Occasionally, an item of news crops up which contains an element of unexpected humour. Such an item is the announcement of a Workshop and Conference on 27-28 February 2007 in Birmingham to consider and introduce BS 25999 - a new standard on Business Continuity Management - to help organisations of all sizes and sectors be better prepared for disruption or disaster. Details from the acknowledged experts at www.bsi-global.com/bcmconference. BSI have apparently dropped their former requirement which inhibited members of their technical Committees acquiring a gratis copy of BS 0: 2005 - A Standard for Standards - until they had undergone a training course. Copies of the two-part standard (and associated guidance) are now available for download to bona fide technical Committee members on http://ecommittees.bsi-global.com. A useful document (although issued somewhat belatedly) is BS ISO 10014 Quality management - Guidelines for realising financial and economic benefits through the effective application of the interrelated eight management principles developed from ISO 9000. All the same, £112.00 seems a rather high price to pay for what ought to have been published before ISO 9000 was inflicted on an otherwise unsuspecting world. |
