SURCON 2021 - Coatings for a brighter future - Wednesday 3 & Thursday 4 November 2021 - Media City, Manchester

The Oil & Colour Chemists’ Association invites you to submit a paper for presentation at SURCON 2021.

Deadline for Submission: Monday 28 June 2021.

OCCA’s mission is to promote links between academia and the coatings industry to support technical and scientific discoveries, create innovative products and encourage talented students to take advantage of the diverse prospects for employment that are available in this sector. It is this interaction that has enabled the industry to achieve technical and commercial success in the past and will support the development of new solutions to future challenges.

SURCON 2021 will provide both a forum and a networking opportunity for researchers, engineers and technologists from academia, government laboratories and industry to present their findings, exchange ideas, share insights, make new friends and renew old acquaintances. OCCA has a proven track record of bringing academics and industry R&D professionals together and would like to encourage academia and industry to support collaboration by submitting papers and posters at this event.

The conference will provide an opportunity to showcase innovative science and technologies related to surface science and surface coatings, including paints, inks, adhesives and sealants.

Authors/speakers that wish to deliver papers (and posters) of high technical and scientific value, are requested to submit a title and a 120-word abstract of the paper (or poster), together with a 50-word speaker biography, by email to techcom@occa.org.uk by the deadline date, 28 June 2021. Wherever possible, the use of tradenames should be avoided.

All submissions will be treated with the strictest confidence and will only be made public with the announcement of the final programme. The conference will be conducted in English and presentations will be 20 minutes duration followed by 10 minutes for discussion.

The conference typically attracts over 100 attendees and delivers 16 presentations over the two days. The Conference Dinner, held on the evening of the first day, will provide a backdrop for important networking between academia and industry. Speakers and delegates will have the added option of participating ‘virtually’, via Zoom webinar platforms, should Covid-19 restrictions still prohibit large face-to-face gatherings or international travel in the autumn.

If you have any questions about the event or the submission, please contact the Technical Committee by email to techcom@occa.org.uk.
