OCCA Weekly Webinars Series 13 continues with "Halox® Organic and Inorganic Corrosion Inhibitors in Performance Coatings" presented by Dr. Lucas Zimmerman of ICL Halox. The webinar will take place via Zoom on Wednesday 19 June at 2:30pm.
Abstract:
Corrosion of metals is a major source of failure in construction and engineering and very costly. Therefore the prevention of corrosion is of utmost importance. The use of organic coatings on metal substrates is the most common solution in combatting corrosion. To ensure a level of high performance and long term protection of these coatings corrosion inhibitors are often added.
The use of zinc dust, zinc phosphates and other inorganic phosphates and borates have been widely used as corrosion inhibitors for some time. The use of organic compounds in inhibiting corrosion has growing significantly. This presentation demonstrates how the performance of a coating may be increased by taking advantage of the synergies between different types of Halox corrosion inhibiting pigments and organic inhibitors. We also demonstrate how Halox organic corrosion inhibitors improve other properties of the coating.
