OCCA Weekly Webinars Series 17 continues with "Standardized, Quantitative, Scaleable: Entering a New Era of NMR in the Chemical Industry" presented by Dr. Markus Hecht of Bruker BioSpin GmbH. The webinar will take place via Zoom on Wednesday 12 November at 2:30pm.

Abstract:

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy plays a pivotal role in the development of new chemical products and processes, enabling target identification, structural elucidation, raw material qualification, and in-process control. Historically, access to NMR technology was limited to centralized R&D facilities and analytical centres of excellence. As a result, once initial lab-scale concepts were validated, researchers often had to develop alternative analytical methods for scale-up and deployment, leading to increased costs, extended timelines, and compromises in analytical quality.

The emergence of small-footprint and low-maintenance benchtop NMR spectrometers as well as intuitive, push-button solutions such as Advanced Chemical Profiling has transformed this landscape. These innovations allow for the seamless integration of NMR spectroscopy throughout the entire value chain, from early-stage research to full-scale production. By enabling operator-independent, standardized, quantitative, and scalable analysis, NMR not only accelerates time-to-market but also supports global harmonization of analytical methodologies.

This webinar will explore how NMR is used in the chemical industry from empowering R&D and enabling process control and QC/Manufacturing teams to maintain analytical consistency, improve operational efficiency, and make data-driven decisions without compromise.

Speaker Profile - Dr. Markus Hecht - Solution Product Manager, Bruker BioSpin GmbH

Markus Hecht holds a doctoral degree in chemistry from the Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg. He later joined BASF and Sun Chemical to lead research laboratories in the development of new products and manufacturing processes in the field of organic pigments. At Bruker, Markus is responsible for providing value-adding solutions to customers in the chemical industry and in commercial & governmental testing laboratories.
