OCCA Weekly Webinars Series 18 continues with "Encapsulated Antimicrobial Solutions: A Safer, Long‑Lasting Approach to Preservation" presented by Marta Sacristán, PhD of Tolsa. The webinar will take place via Zoom on Wednesday 25 February at 2:30pm.

Abstract:

Antimicrobial protection in paints and coatings is evolving rapidly due to regulatory pressure, sustainability goals, and the demand for safer, long‑lasting performance. This presentation introduces ADINS® Protection, Tolsa’s encapsulated inorganic biocide technology designed to deliver controlled release, enhanced stability, and broad‑spectrum antimicrobial efficacy, while reducing toxicity and environmental impact. Through real‑world application studies, we demonstrate how encapsulated solutions offer a reliable, more sustainable alternative to conventional biocides for both in‑can and dry‑film preservation.

Key Bullet Points:

  • Encapsulated inorganic biocides for safer preservation
  • Long‑lasting antimicrobial protection (≥99% efficacy)
  • Broad‑spectrum activity for in‑can & dry‑film preservation
  • Supports sustainable, regulation‑aligned coating solutions

Objective of the Session:

To introduce the ADINS® Protection technology and product grades to the UK coatings market, highlighting how encapsulation enhances preservation performance while aligning with local regulatory expectations and sustainability priorities.

Benefits for Attendees:

  • Learn how encapsulated inorganic biocides can replace more hazardous preservatives without compromising efficacy, achieving robust in‑can and dry‑film protection at low dosages (0.25–1%).
  • Discover formulation approaches that advance sustainability (lower toxicity, controlled release, reduced environmental load) with proven broad‑spectrum antimicrobial performance validated by ASTM, ISO, and UNE‑EN standards.
