Abstract:
The protection of exterior surfaces is essential for the preservation of buildings and the reduction of maintenance costs. Modern polymer technologies have enabled the development of water-based acrylic systems that match or even surpass traditional coatings, while also offering a more environmentally friendly profile. Coalescent-free coatings have been formulated to ensure high adhesion, flexibility, and resistance to weathering. Tests on water absorption, UV resistance, adhesion, and accelerated aging demonstrated excellent film stability and long-term color retention. The absence of solvents significantly reduces VOC emissions. The durability of the coating contributes to a longer service life, reducing maintenance frequency and overall environmental impact — demonstrating how technical performance can drive sustainability.
Speaker Profile - Francesca Chiarinotti - Technical Service Coating and Building dept., Vinavil SpA
Francesca Chiarinotti has a chemical background and works since 2002 in the technical assistance department for coating in Vinavil. For 21 years she works as technician in the paint laboratory evaluating Vinavil’s product range and, in collaboration with R&D developing new grades. Since 2023 she is in her current position as Technical Manager being responsible for the coating and building department.
