Abstract:
Titanium dioxide remains the primary pigment for delivering opacity, brightness and gloss in paints and coatings, yet overall performance is heavily influenced by dispersion quality. This webinar explores how Lankem's dispersants can be used to give excellent performance in water-based systems, solvent-based and UV/EB-cured systems, with a particular focus on dispersion efficiency and colloidal stability.
Water-based case studies highlight challenges associated with the industry’s shift toward lower-VOC, more sustainable technologies, while comparative UV and solvent-based data demonstrate achievable high-gloss performance. We also highlight the unique BioLoop technology from Lankem, which combines strong pigment stabilisation with high renewable carbon content, demonstrating that sustainability and performance need not be mutually exclusive.
Speaker Profile - Cathy Cooper - Technical Manager, Lankem
Cathy Cooper is the Technical Manager at Lankem, with expertise in dispersion chemistry for coatings and specialty formulated systems. She holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Bristol, where her research focused on aqueous colloidal systems.
Upon joining Lankem in October 2024, Cathy brought with her a significant level of industrial experience from 9.5 years at Lubrizol, spanning the Paper & Textiles and Hyperdispersants businesses, where her roles covered product development and technical support, working closely with global customers and commercial teams. This combination of academic expertise and industrial experience underpins her approach to formulation and product performance at Lankem.
