OCCA Weekly Webinars Series 19 continues with "NEW Anti-Skin Additives to Outperform Oximes & Achieve Future-Ready Compliance " presented by Sebastian Dziki of Borchers. The webinar will take place via Zoom on Wednesday 8 July at 2:30pm.

Abstract:

Oxime-based anti-skinning additives—particularly methyl ethyl ketoxime (MEKO) and 2-Pentanone Oxime (2-PO)—have been widely used in alkyd formulations to prevent premature film formation in the can. However, increasing regulatory restrictions are accelerating the need for oxime-free alternatives.

In March 2022, the European Commission (ATP 15-part 3 Annex VI) concluded that MEKO will be classified as a Carcinogen Category 1B, with labeling required at ≥ 0.1% MEKO content.

2-PO is expected to receive a harmonized GHS Carcinogen 2 classification in the EU.

Although regulations are shifting, performance expectations have not changed.

This webinar will introduce Borchers’ new Borchi® Guard oxime-free anti-skin line that – compared to oxime-based solutions –provides:

  • Skin prevention at reduced dosages while maintaining favorable drying performance after application
  • Broad compatibility with various resin systems and drier packages
  • Improved regulatory compliance with reliable coating quality

Borchi® Guard enables the transition to oxime-free alkyd systems without compromising performance.
