Abstract:
Foam control agents are critical additives in the manufacture and application of industrial floor coatings. Poor performance of foam control agents in such systems manifests itself as reduced production efficiency, adverse aesthetic appearance, and compromised coating properties. In order to combat these issues and optimise the coating’s overall performance, choosing the correct foam control agent is essential. Floor coatings pose unique technical challenges when developing foam control agents compared to other types of coating. Factors that must be considered include resin chemistry (Epoxy, Polyurethane etc), technology (Water/Solvent-Based etc), number of components (1K, 2K etc) and application method (Roller, Trowel etc).
Over the past 12 months, the laboratory team at Blackburn Chemicals have been working to overcome these technical challenges and offer an effective range of foam control agents specifically developed for industrial floor coatings.
