Our Series 5 of OCCA Weekly Webinars continues with "Bentonite based rheology modifiers for water and solvent borne systems" presented by Francesco Criscitiello of Laviosa SpA. The webinar will take place via Zoom on Wednesday 27th October 2021 at 2:30pm.
This webinar is free to attend, simply register below and you'll receive further details & joining instructions in due course.
Abstract:
Bentonite is well know for it’s rheological properties, specifically for it’s thixotropic behaviour in a liquid media.
When well exfoliated whit external forces it can form nano-structures capable of reversibly modifying its matrix viscosity. Inorganic bentonite is well suited for water-based products, but, trough a chemical reaction, this mineral can be modified in order to transfer its properties even to an organic media.
This presentation will show you some brief introduction to bentonite properties, how to reach best performances and a little glance to our bentonite-based products for water and solvent systems.
Speaker Profile - Francesco Criscitiello
Product Manager in Coating & Plastic Sector
Laviosa SpA

I’m Francesco Criscitiello, age 35, husband, father of two childs. I’m also a chemist, got a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Master’s degree in Industrial Chemistry and then a PhD in Chemistry and Material Science at University of Pisa, Italy. I’ve also been collaborating with several companies, ENI SpA and Malfon SpA for example, during both PhD research and post-doc. I’ve worked on several topics, from dispersant additives synthesis to end-of-use tyres recycling for circular economy improvements. On early 2020 I moved into Laviosa SpA where, at the moment, I’m product manager in coating & plastic sector and I’m also in charge for technical sales in some world areas. This means that I’m luck enough to see a product from the R&D stage to the final market placement.
