Abstract:

Allnex developed, based on their broad knowledge, water-borne and solvent-borne formaldehyde free crosslinkers and tailor-sized backbone binders for ambient dried wood coatings. The new technology provides neither exposure of hazard materials in production, nor release of hazard substances during drying process. Main binder technologies are economical short oil alkyd or advanced acrylic resins in order to provide individually solutions. The outstanding new technology with increased pot life can be applied on traditional coatings lines without any changes of the currently used equipment. Superior hardness development results in excellent early print resistance and extra-ordinary chemical resistance provide better performance compared to current used systems. Both systems, solvent borne as well as water borne, are able to formulate as clear coating or pigmented one without a problem. Therefore the novel technology will fulfill highest requirements of furniture industry all over Europe.
