Abstract:
The photopolymer market is moving away from TPO (2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl-diphenyl phosphine oxide) due to recent toxicological reclassifications. Working on alternatives to TPO, IGM Resins was able to identify interesting synergies between Omnirad 819 (bis(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl) phenyl phosphine oxide) and some alpha hydroxy ketones and ketosulphone types of photoinitiators. Such synergistic combinations are also effective in the UV-A wavelength range, where alpha hydroxy ketones and ketosulphones are not active. Another strong trend in photopolymers is the use of precursors with bio renewable content. Having this in mind, IGM Resins has re-branded a selection of ECRs (energy curable resins) under the PureOmerâ„¢ tradename. The materials have been submitted through C14 analysis (ASTM D6866-21) to confirm bio renewable content.
